Apparently, May 15 is a very important day to some people since it is International Families Day. Due to this recent celebration I will discuss the ideal family in the United States. The ideal family starts out by not being perfect. Perfection is highly overrated and should never be attempted. The Family should be open-minded, not loose in values but open to other ideas in order to improve their circumstances. Fathers should be the head of a household so I’ll start with him. He should find a healthy balance between his work and his suburban household. He should also know that decisions should not be made by one person and instead be discussed with everyone for the best outcome. If possible he should also be a member of a different political party than the mother in order to avoid complete agreement between the two.
The mother in this family also needs a few characteristics in order to fit in the ideal family. She should be strong minded, but not to the point of interfering with the alpha command of the father. Housecleaning would be one of her main responsibilities, but not to the point of obsessing over minute details which no one else would notice. The ideal family should have two kids only. Three and up create too much confusion and financial expenditures, but only children grow up to be egotistical shrinks. These two kids should be required to take responsibilities for their actions at a young age and if possible play only one sport because multi-sport children will lose focus on the one they exceed at the most proficiently.
My final note is the pets since most Americans consider them part of their “family”. First, no dogs, ever, end of sentence. Second, one or two cats are preferable and a rodent will always supply a good laugh.

On this blue planet there are several heroes, but none as great as Chuck Norris himself. People call superman “the man of steel”, but Chuck Norris is “the man of uranium”. He has enough energy pack into his 175 pound frame to power a light bulb for 13,650 years by just staring at it. If that does not qualify him to be a hero I don’t know what will. Chuck also starred as the lead role in a show where he protected the state of Texas from crime and wrong-doers for over a decade. On top of his acting career in which he starred in several medium quality low budget action movies, he was also a champion and hero of martial arts. Chuck started martial arts at a young age and by the age of 27 was the North American martial arts champion ( no joke). On top of that, Mr.Norris created his own very hero-like martial art form called Chun Kuk Do which was based on Tang Soo Do, a traditional Taiwanese martial art. Out of all of his acts of heroism his most was the way he spread martial arts to the youth of our country. In 2005 he started his own charity called KickStart which is founded by the league he created titled The World Combat League. KickStart assists in helping kids stay drug free and avoid gangs through years of martial arts training focused on discipline. If Chuck Norris isn’t the greatest hero ever then he will fight you.

A steak cooked just to the right shade of pink can be heaven. Friday’s are my family’s night to have tenderloin steaks fresh from Trader Joe’s. My dad will always cook them the same way, medium so there is just a hint of pink in the center.
Strawberry milkshakes are another wonderful delicacy that comes in a shade of pink. My favorite treat of choice after a tennis match or just on a hot summer’s day will always be a milkshake from Dairy Queen.

There are such a vast number of animals I would just plead to see in the wild, but one sticks out the most to my tastes, an anaconda. Anaconda’s can be up to 30 feet long in the wild and are known to swallow cows whole. If I could see one in the wild no one could one up me in that category. Also, anacondas are never in zoos. Probably because no one really knows how to catch a 550lbs snake in the middle of the Amazon yet besides to kill it. If I did see one in the wild I would most likely attempt to capture it myself though. There is currently a $55,000 reward for the capture of one longer than 30 feet. Anaconda’s usually stay in the water so if I wanted to see one in the wild I would have to go out on to the Amazon on a fishing boat and wait for the boat to capsize to lure the anaconda out than tranquilize it or wrestle it with my own bare hands. Whatever is necessary to get a glimpse of the world’s biggest snake.

Earth Day is an outdated celebration. It was started in 1970 by President Nixon to get the hippies off his back for one day during Vietnam. Now most the hippies are washed-up or just grew old so there should be no reason to celebrate it. Also, one day of saving the environment will make absolutely no difference in saving the environment. Another annoyance of mine about this day is if all people are equal then all planets should be equal so if Earth Day is celebrated then we must have seven more celebrations to make things fair. Finally, Earth Day has no appeal to the majority of the population because school and businesses are still open. To make it a real holiday we would have to cancel school.

For my podcasting review, I listened to the “Hatchet” podcast. This podcast had several strong points and very few weak ones. The creators of the podcast started out with some exquisite sound effects to set the mood for the entire podcast. The sound effects were composed an airplane spiraling out of control and serene bird calls after the accident was over. From there, they used a well-practiced narrator to describe the event which occurred in the book. Along side of that, there were other well timed sound effects to tie into the mood of the podcast. The script of the two narrators in this podcast was superb throughout. Not only did they explain a few of the events of the book, but also quote some of the finer lines from those events with great emotion. One downfall of this podcast was their volumes varied between the narrators so it sometimes distracted from the purpose of the podcast. The total length of four minutes and seven seconds seemed to me to be the perfect length for their production. Overall, this was a very well crafted podcast which must have taken a lot of effort throughout production of it.

As most teenagers agree, text messaging is the greatest invention since the light bulb. Not only can you multi task while doing it, unlike a phone call, it can be done anywhere there is cell reception. On a regular day I send and receive roughly 100 depending on the circumstances, but many do that in just 30 minutes. In my opinion, text messaging doesn’t effect anyone’s writing, especially not mine. There is a time to use proper grammar and a time not to. All teenagers can transition between the two without difficulties and if anyone can’t, they are a small minority. Text messaging”s place in school, movies, language, etc. is to be the most efficient way of communicating between two people, nothing more. Just because something is often used that does not mean it has to be widely used through many different ways. I also do not think that text messaging has a pronounced effect on our oral language and communication. Mainly because the only time someone says LOL is in an attempt to be humorous, but yet they always fall short. Overall, texting has not effected our culture in any way that could be considered negative. I predict in the future that phone calls will become obsolete just like eight-tracks.

Since I can remember, computers have always been a presence in my life and the world. People depend on the internet daily for email, information, etc. Even though the internet is praised so highly by many, there is a few who question its safety. In my opinion, common sense will always trump any dangers of the internet. Though I have quite the amount of experience on all platforms of computers, blogging is much less familiar to me. None of my friends blog and neither do I. Blogging seems a waste of time because people opinions should sometimes be kept to themselves or shared in a small group, but since blogs put their writing out for everyone to see, it can create argument for the sake of arguing and that seems to be a waste of everyone’s time. Blogging doesn’t endanger anyone and its a good demonstration of freedom of speech, but when its used in an English class the idea seems a waste of time. There are several more productive assignments that could be completed then blogs that would actually benefit your education rather than drag it by the ears. My writing preference has always been open ended fiction. Completing blogs about ourself and our opinions is mostly tedious typing to me and dips my motivation toward writing. Even though I disagree with blogging in an English class, the idea of becoming more experienced in blogging could make it worthwhile. Going outside of a comfort zone can always end up positive.
